 The Saltire Gathering, 20th & 21st September 2025, Stirling

Message from David Radley, Past President Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games, Canada:

Although you may already know, I wanted to be sure that you are aware of a festival that will be taking place at Stirling in Scotland in 2025.

The festival came about as the result of a discussion which took place between the visiting Chiefs at the Fergus Scottish Festival in 2022 and will take place on the 20th and 21st September next year. Madame Pauline Hunter, Chief of Clan Hunter, and her colleague Louise Hunter have spearheaded the project.

This is an important endeavour that I believe can only heighten the awareness of Scottish culture and strengthen the bonds of the Scottish diaspora internationally.

We ask your help in not only getting the word out to all your clans and acquaintances, but also by using your distinguished position to endorse the gathering whenever the opportunity arises. And, of course we are always looking for sponsorship opportunities.

I look forward to meeting you again in Stirling in 2025.

Be a part of an exciting launch of a new festival of Scotland in 2025.

Over the weekend of the 20th & 21st September 2025, a new festival of Scotland will launch in Stirling, with the aim to bring together the Scottish Diaspora, particularly those in North America together with those of us fortunate enough to live in Scotland.

Our mission

Drawing on Scotland’s identity and global connections, our mission is to design, develop and deliver an annual festival (with live and digital events and associated programmes) that highlights Scottish heritage, values, and aspirations. Through a shared experience encompassing place, culture, sport, business, culinary delights, artistic expression, and local communities, we are seeking to bring together Scots from home and throughout the rest of the world with those who have an enthusiasm for Scotland, in a celebration of all things Scottish.

The festival will provide an opportunity and a platform to bring Clans together in one venue for a weekend to take centre stage within the historical content and context of the festival. It provides a powerful reason for those Scots living abroad to not only be part of a wider gathering of the Clans who choose to take part but to enjoy all that the festival will have to offer.

The festival aims to bring together a diverse audience of those who love Scotland, those who have a connection, those who are just “interested” and those that seek to contribute to Scotland’s future. Importantly, the festival would like to contribute to the aggregation of all those who contribute in ways large and small in Brand Scotland. And the festival aims to draw an in-person audience of up to 5000. In addition, we hope to be able to put some of the sessions online to allow those who can’t attend, to enjoy some of the thought-provoking and enjoyable content.

It’s a family festival in every sense and the programme of things to do will reflect this. There will be lots of activities for every age group throughout the weekend and it is hoped that we might be able in the first year, to launch a one-day history festival on the Friday for school age students.

There are many wonderful individual festivals throughout Scotland but The Saltire Gathering is going a step further by amalgamating individual content and bring together for one weekend, a festival of Scotland.
